Night Nevil Black Watch by Triwa

Really pleased here at StylePilot to try on the limited edition Night Nevil watch from Triwa. In Triwa’s own words: “the Nevil watch is our interpretation of the classic chronograph”.

Founded in 2007 by four friends with the goal to change the attitudes in the watch industry that they thought was too focused on status and tradition. They started the company TRIWA (Transforming the Industry of Watches) with the purpose to transform the watch into a modern style symbol through a combination of classic silhouettes and contemporary Scandinavian simplicity.

A 42 mm, all black, limited edition of Triwa’s most popular watch model Nevil.

Definitely a bold move to have a watch all in black, but it does really work! This was love at first sight!

Here expressed in matte black steel, matte black dial and a black organically tanned leather strap, from Tärnsjö Tannery. A unique limited model with a strong attitude.

That’s what you will see when you unbox it!

How to style it?

This was a no-brainer: we had to go for a black & white gear!

The Night Nevil is styled here with a leather jacket by Superdry and a white shirt by boohooMAN.

adidas Originals Unbox Some Of Their Most Iconic Stories

Throughout this summer 2019 adidas is launching a variety of Home of Classics. At StylePilot we really like footwear. So, we couldn’t be more excited to try the Superstar 80s from the three stripes brand.

In adidas own words: “Viewed as a whole, Home of Classics is a documentation of some of adidas Originals’ most influential designs, and a true testament to the timelessness of the brand’s craftsmanship that provides longevity for the wearer, regardless of their choice of experience or expression”.

Inspiration

The Home of Classics collection is inspired by the brand’s 50 years of experience in craftsmanship, sport, and culture. You cannot avoid feeling the nostalgia browsing this collection.

Home of Classics is led by the Stan Smith, Continental 80 and the Superstar 80s. The lineup also features the Supercourt, Torsion Comp, S.C. Premiere and A.R. Trainer.

The collection is made up of 10 timeless, court-inspired silhouettes. adidas Originals is paying tribute to its lineage of classic white leather sneakers that has now transcended several generations.

The perfect spot

Finding a location to photoshoot the Superstar 80s was the next mission.

As the pair of Superstar 80s is black (and white), we decided to choose a surrounding to match them. We did find the perfect building a few meters away from London Bridge train station and the iconic Shard.

These shoes keep the look classic with a coated leather upper. They feature all the authentic details, including zigzag edging on the 3-Stripes and the signature rubber shell toe.

A discreet ‘Superstar’ signature above the famous three stripes!

A bit of history

This ’70s sneaker began life as a court-dominating B-ball shoe.

It wasn’t long before it was infiltrating the worlds of skateboarding and street style (not to mention the hip-hop main stage).

For decades, global creatives have regarded each sneaker as a blank canvas that carries them through experiences, granting the shoes greater meaning with every step. Symbolic of different stories and adventures, the Home of Classics collection has evolved through athletes, musicians, designers, style icons, and youth cultures alike that have re-interpreted each style to fit their lifestyle. Embracing how far people have taken, and will take, the brand’s timeless designs, the pack presents a line for the next generation of creators.

The sneakers are styled here with some black denim trousers from Belstaff, a leather jacket from Superdry and a white shirt from boohooMAN.

Specifications

  • Full grain leather upper for comfort and soft feel
  • Rubber cupsole; Synthetic leather lining
  • Logo on heel patch
  • Herringbone-pattern rubber outsole
  • Product code: C77124

A Stylish Italian Escape

“I am on annual leave”. This is the message you will get if you try to email me this week.

An Italian escape had been in the pipe for some months now. Among several Italian places, it was decided that the ‘cities’ of Murano, Venice & Burano were to be the main destinations.

35 degrees Celsius is the average temperature you get there. This meant that shorts, sunglasses, short sleeves & light shirts are to become my best friends. Not to forget the large quantities of water needed in order to ‘survive’ the days!

My first destination was Murano. To go to there from Venice one has to take a boat (less than 20mn).

Murano, famous for its glass.

Murano, island, northeastern Italy in the Venice Lagoon (Laguna Veneta), is renowned for its long tradition of glass-making. I was told that the island experienced its major development after 1291, when glass furnaces were moved there from Venice.

It was just a delight to spend hours walking around the canals and get a glimpse at the glass shops. A fascinating place!

Like Venice, Murano is formed of seven islands in turn connected by bridges and its Grand Canal that runs through them.
One of Murano’s, and many, glass shops!
The famous Barovier & Toso brand: Luxury Lighting (Murano Glass Since 1295).

Another must see is the the Museum of Glass which was founded by Antonio Colleoni and Vincenzo Zanetti in 1861. Inside you can admire vases, bowls, sculptures and especially the majestic chandeliers.

Venice

Venice is located in the northeast coast of Italy. It is protected from the Adriatic Sea by a long strip of land composed by the Venice Lido, the Cavallino-Treporti Lido and the Jesolo Lido.

The Canal Grande, the main water way of the city to which 150 smaller canals (called “rii”) are connected to.
Linen shirt by M&S. Sunglasses by Asos. Sling bag by Tumi.
This Tumi sling bag quickly became my best ally: wallet, water bottle, camera and bits and bobs did all fit in it.
View from Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute
It is estimated that there are around 400 gondolas in Venice. They are made of 280 hand-made pieces using eight types of wood (lime, oak, mahogany, walnut, cherry, fir, larch and elm). The process takes about two months; in 2013, the cost of a gondola was about £35K.
Light brown Sid skinny stretch utility shorts by River Island.
The “Piazza San Marco” is the unique square in Venice. Considered by many as the most beautiful square of the world because of its many decorations in the Renaissance arcades and in the buildings surrounding it.
St Mark’s Campanile, Colonne di San Marco e San teodoro, lPalazzo Ducale.

Burano, known for its lace its unique and colorful houses.

Less than 20 minutes away from Murano (by boat), the picturesque Burano is known for its brightly colored fishermen’s houses and its casual eateries serving seafood from the lagoon.

It just seems to be the paradise here. One can really appreciates the tranquility and the calmness of this island.

Pursuing the shores you will arrive to center of the Island: Galuppi Square; here neighbourly ladies invite the most curious visitors to come into their shops to admire the lace working.

Many international magazines include Burano among the top 10 most colorful cities in the world.

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About The “Do The Unthinkable Plan” (But Were Afraid to Ask)

It has now been 4 weeks since I have enrolled the “Do The Unthinkable Plan” by Muscle Food!! (I am actually at Day 29 and there are 90!).

How am I doing so far? Well, I have been loving it!

They claim it can be “life changing” and I cannot agree more.

So, what is this program about?

My personal goal was to find a perfect recipe to get in shape for the summer.

Do The Unthinkable™ is a program created by musclefood to transform your body and makes it easier to lose weight/get ripped or simply eat good, healthy food without the fuss. You meals are being prepared for you, so YOU don’t have to.

In their own words: “Getting in shape relies on eating the right meals!”.

There, you will find a combination of meals & snacks – and when to eat them – alongside a workout program.

It can sound a bit overwhelming but it’s all worth it. And don’t forget that preparation is key.

Step 1: Getting ready

Choosing the food from MuscleFood to get 6 meals a day is the easiest part!

Basically, you get ready to eat every three hours: 3 meals + 3 snacks!

Below my selection for the first week (Monday to Friday).

Step 2: The routine

Where the real sweat starts!

As your food is sorted – from morning to evening – you don’t have to think about what you eat. Basically you just eat what you have ordered! This is simple.

But this doesn’t stop there, you have now the workouts and the planning that goes with it.

In order to help you, every journey has a video (between 23 to 30 minutes). So, you can’t go wrong.

Just commit to do it!

That’s definitely the toughest part as you (I did) go out of your comfort zone. That said, I was up for the challenge and I never gave up.

How much does this cost?

It will cost between £60 to £79 per week. Respectively for 5 days (30 meal times) or for 7 days (42 meal times).

You do the maths: it’s from £1,88 to £2 per meal time.

The first noticeable results:

Even though it’s only been a month, I can say that only after 10 days I could already feel some changes operating. Not only did I feel better: since you only eat what you need, you never feel blotted. Also shape-wise it felt more tensed and getting into shape.

I am now hooked and I can’t wait to be at Day 90! On that day I will do a “After” photo that I will share alongside the “before” ! Yes, I will be getting out of my comfort zone.

Don’t waste any more time and have a go!

You won’t regret it!

All info regarding The Unthinkable Plan >> www.musclefood.com

A typical day

Let me share with you what a typical day looks like (6 meal times):

Basically, it looks like the following @ 7.30am: breakfast time, @10.30am: snack, @1.30pm: lunch, @4.30pm:snack, @7.30pm: evening meal and then @ 10.30pm: the last snack of the day.

A typical Meal (lunch)

The plan offers many varieties of meals: some of them just require to be heated (pictured below) however you can choose to do a bit of cook and then can follow a recipe – all proved in the plan.

Fell in love with those snacks 😉

They are yummy! And I am now almost addicted to them! As they are: High Protein / GMO Free / Gluten Free / Vegetarian / Wheat Free / No Added Sugar / Soy Free / All Natural / High in Fibre.
You can shop them from www.musclefood.com or from www.theproteinballco.com

One last thing!

Are cheat meals/days allowed?

A cheat meal is a single meal that veers from your planned diet pattern (while a cheat day allows for free food choices for an entire day).

Of course you can! They are actually recommended.

I, myself, have been craving for a beer (missed the taste of a great beer), so I decided to go for an alcohol-free beer as an all-natural alternative to my sports drinks.

In fact, alcohol-free beer is a natural isotonic and the perfect natural choice for pre and post workout (we’ve been told).

Made from four natural ingredients: barley, hops, yeast and water, St Peter’s Without® is a great fitness thirst-quencher, providing ultimate hydration and electrolyte replacements after exercise, as well giving your body back the vital salts and minerals that it releases during activity. They are 100% natural, vegan-friendly and contain fewer calories than an average beer.  And they taste yummy (tried last weekend!).

What’s next?

See you in 60 days!

These timepieces are refined in their simplicity and assert the philosophy that less is more”.

The brand’s mission

What do they look like?

BELZA | GRALL. £1,027 RRP.

March LA.B London Store

The neo-retro time keeper’s first overseas store is perfectly situated in vibrant Soho, an area so iconised by March LA.B’s defining decade.

Every detail of March LA.B’s new store reflects the two passions of founder, Alain Marhic: surfing and the much-loved design from the Seventies. StylePilot was at the launch event and the store is definitely a must see!

It is just love at first sight: a refreshing packaging that makes you want to try those products. And isn’t it great to bring a bit of colours to your your bathroom shelves?

In their own words: “Raw Supremo is a neat range of grooming products created by a team who understand the lack of variety in men’s grooming products, they are bored of seeing the same old stuff in plain packaging smelling of something their Grandad’s used to splash on their skin”.

Current men’s grooming brands are typically sandalwood & vanilla scented with a limited variety. Raw Supremo has the fragrance of Coconut & Lime to break the stereotype of men’s grooming products.

StylePilot has selected a couple of products for you:

The New UNDONE Basecamp Watch Timepiece

UNDONE, the watch brand democratizing custom luxury timepieces, is excited to release their new, highly-anticipated model, the Basecamp. At StylePilot we couldn’t be more excited to try it on.

In their own words, it is “a modern, high-performance tool watch with on-trend vintage aesthetics, the Basecamp is now the brand’s most durable custom watch in the collection”.

“We’ve been producing top-quality, great looking, customizable watches at UNDONE since 2014” Michael Young, UNDONE Co-Founder. But the Basecamp is really the first of its kind in terms of its utilitarian caliber. We took two years to develop this timepiece and every single detail and complication was considered to make this watch stand out in terms of both form and function.”

So what is so special about the Basecamp watch?

THE DESIGN

Ultra-Domed Crystal

Today, watch crystals are mostly flat. Basecamp’s 3mm crystal is patently arched for a real, retro look. The desired shape took the UNDONE team two years to develop in the lab using LEXAN™, a polycarbonate thermoplastic found in headlamps and motorcycle helmets with 250 times the impact strength of glass.

The connoisseur will notice that one of the most prominent features is the highly-visible orange hour-hand, which is a tribute to one of the founder’s favorite watch brands, Rolex, and their famous Rolex Explorer II. Watch aficionados will also notice the nod to Blancpain’s 50 Fathom ‘sterile’ bezel — the Basecamp featuring that same beloved and uncommon triangle hour pointer.

Exceptionally Legible
Unlike most watches, Basecamp boasts three drastically different hands, so the hour, minute, and second are immediately distinguishable. Importantly, the hour hand is the eye-catching hue of vivid orange – striking, and symbolic of safety.

WHAT ELSE?

MAKE IT PERSONAL.

With a philosophy that luxury lies in boutique, tailor-made products in small quantities, the Basecamp, like all other models, is made-to-order at UNDONE facilities for each customer. There’s not only a choice between case materials like stainless steel, black PVD, rose gold and gold, but also bezel function types and a personalized display caseback.

Because you can.
Staying true to UNDONE philosophy – that individuality matters – Basecamp is yours to customize. Your wrist, your story. Time on your terms.

4 Case Options
Basecamp’s 316L stainless steel case comes in four options: silver; gold; rose gold; and matte black. Except the silver case, all the others are thinly vacuum-coated using PVD, for softened shine and heightened hardiness.

3 New Straps
While compatible with any 20mm watch bands, Basecamp comes with a new and exclusive NATO strap selection in orange, olive green, and black, in two different coatings. “NATO” is a nickname for the “G10” strap first issued to British soldiers in 1973 – waterproof, fail-safe and easy-to-change.

2 Bezel Choices
The choice is between a vintage, understated ‘sterile’ bezel displaying just one lumed pointer to indicate the hour, or the more conventional ‘graduated’ bezel for accurate minute-by-minute measurement (available in May 2019).

SPECIFICATIONS

Weight

Tool watches should be light and compact, and in no way clumsy or cumbersome – they are designed to fuse effortlessly with an explorer’s physique, so they never have to be taken off during a journey. Weighing in at just 66 grams, Basecamp ticks all the boxes (and scales).

Dimensions

Perfect for everyday wear, indoors or outdoors, office, off-site… Sans crown guards, Basecamp has slimmed down to smarten up for all sorts of occasions. At 40mm in diameter and 15mm thick, Basecamp sits snugly on any wrist. Lug-to-lug length is 48mm and lug width is 20mm, allowing easy exchange with all UNDONE 20mm straps.

Movement

Basecamp is driven by one of the most reliable and robust workhorse in the industry – the Seiko Instrument Inc. NH35a automatic movement. The Japanese are known for precision and efficiency. The watch fuels up by wrist motion, but can also be wound manually via the crown; fully wound, it’s armed with a 42-hour power reserve.

The Basecamp has just been released today!

From £220 RRP for the Basecamp Standard watch.
