What did we think

There is nothing harder than trying to describe a fragrance with words. Let’s start by saying that we loved it.

Firstly, what we really liked was that it has a presence but is not overwhelming, it really stands out (in a nice way).

Secondly, we really liked the way the notes of violet and rose with the leather and sandalwood have been added together. Those combinations make it really special.

Finally, the ‘cherry on the cake’ is the sugar notes that (personally) made me love it.

Revive and Thrive at Goodwood Revival

It takes place every year and this is a must go event!

Recreating the glamour of motor racing as it used to be, the Motor Circuit comes alive for the Revival, both on and off the historic track. The only historic race meeting to be staged entirely in period dress, the Revival sees a return to the halcyon days of Goodwood as the spiritual home of British motor racing.

Dress code

Although not compulsory, the vast majority of Revival visitors dress in period style with many going to great lengths to achieve that authentic look. The resulting step-back-in-time spectacle plays a key role in making the Revival such a unique event.

While you’re not required to dress up (unless you qualify for central Paddock access, in which case a jacket and tie is necessary for gentlemen, and a dress or suit for the ladies), you’ll feel much more involved if you do. And whether you go for the slick urban look, gentrified country style or chocs-away military aesthetic, it’s not difficult or costly to dress appropriately.

It almost feels like you are on a Hollywood set!

It’s a celebration of bygone days, vintage fashion and wheel-to-wheel racing around this classic circuit, which remains unchanged since its heyday.

While there is standing space all around the track, racing fans will prefer a Grandstand pass for covered and raised viewing of all the action on track.

How To Dress Like A Bridgerton

Have you watched the hit drama Bridgerton (yet)? Well, let’s have a closer look at the story on the most fabulous and expensive menswear drama on Netflix.

A bit of background

Bridgerton is an American streaming television period drama series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes. It is based on Julia Quinn’s novels set in the competitive world of Regency era London’s Ton during the season, when debutantes are presented at court.

What they wear

From a dapper Duke dressed in the finest silk… To Prince Friedrich’s double-breasted tuxedo coat worn when asking Daphne to the social ball of the season… There’s no shortage of style and sophistication, but how much would one of these looks set you back in real life?

We speak with Maximilian Ciampi, the Tailoring Director of 40 Savile Row, part of the Savile Row Company. He has over 20 years of experience working on the bespoke strip and has deconstructed the top five men’s looks from top to toe.

The Prince Friedrich

Is there anything more opulent than a royal wardrobe?

Prince Freidrich’s outfit is an accurate representation of what would have been worn by the royals of the Regency era. His double-breasted tuxedo coast, adorned with medals and show-stopping shoulder pads is a traditional royal uniform and similar to the one worn by Prince William on his wedding day. It’s likely these clothing items would be made of only the finest materials, right down to the silk gloves.

An outfit fit for a Prince would set you back an estimated £7,900.

The Duke of Hastings

As somewhat of a rulebreaker, the Duke of Hastings was less conventional in his wardrobe choices.

Perhaps on the first night when the Duke and Daphne first realised their love for one another, the Duke is seen in a velvet cutaway tailcoat, tailored trousers, a silk waistcoat encrusted with what looks like semi-precious stones as buttons and a silk scarf.

It was very common for people of status and wealth to opt for bright colours as can be seen with these styles.

Anthony Bridgerton

Although this is his ‘leisure’ time, he is still formally dressed which was expected of men during this era.

He’s impeccably dressed in a green shirt, velvet cutaway tailcoat, crisp white and fitted trousers and polished brown leather boots.

Rumpl: A World With Better Blankets

Always excited to discover a new brand and get to know how it all started.

The Story Behind Rumpl

On a surf and ski trip through California, their founders were sleeping in a van, several miles up a dirt road near a secret hot spring. They awoke the next morning in subzero temperatures with a car that wouldn’t start. Far outside of cell reception, and confronted with an impossibly long walk into town, they decided to bundle up in their sleeping bags and drink whiskey while they waited for someone else to show up.

Minutes turned to hours, and in that time the conversation took an unexpected turn to the subject of bedding. Cozy and warm in their sleeping bags, the two acknowledged how much better the materials felt and performed than what was on their beds back home. A resolve was made to create a “sleeping bag blanket” and the idea for the first Rumpl product was born.

Returning from the trip and borrowing a sewing machine, the first Rumpl “Puffy” blankets were hand sewn in a cramped San Francisco apartment. After several months using the blankets, the two realized they had stumbled on to an idea much grander than just a sleeping bag blanket. The materials typically found in everyday blankets hadn’t evolved in hundreds of years—the entire category wasn’t utilizing any of the material innovation that was taking place in apparel, outdoor gear, and activewear. After turning to Kickstarter, getting funded in less than 24 hours, and ultimately hitting more than 10x the original campaign goal, they realized that others wanted more from an everyday blanket.
